Hey Paul,
New UDT's foiled. Working as well as the pair I lost, and a little more comfortable because I sanded the inside of the footpocket and straps to accomodate my ankles.
Haven't had much surf lately, but really enjoying riding the black and blue hybrid Standard. Very comfortable bareback, no rash at all, and has good enough grip for most days.
Sorry to say I still haven't gotten George his new proto hybrid mat. The head gasket in the car blew I've been pretty stranded. I called him to let him know, and have plans to ride down on Friday with a friend to drop the mat and have a surf.

Hey Jaimie
That ankle tether system looks intriguing...care to describe?
It's made by Balin. It's basically just a neoprene heel pad with a strap sewn on that goes across the top of the foot and loops thru a buckle. It's pretty effective for keeping your foot inside the fin in big surf. I haven't lost a pair of fins in the water while using it. Can probably be found anywhere that has bodyboarding gear. Not very effective for keeping fins on the top of the car while driving though... :)
Nice. What glue will stick the neoprene into the inside of the foot pocket like that?
...these look good for some extra ankle padding on the udts too

I used regular contact cement and a small 1" paintbrush. I borrowed PG's idea of using plastic inserts to stiffen the footpocket.
Cut plastic from milk jugs, fit to size of top of footpocket. Glue plastic to neoprene insert. Let dry a day, and then sand lightly both the plastic and the inside of the fin itself. Then apply a liberal amount of the glue to the plastic/neoprene insert and to the inside of the fin. Let the glue set up for about 15 minutes before you put the insert in place. Clamp down by hand until your hand goes numb and it shouldn't ever move again. Wait a day before you hit the water just to make sure.
