UK Mat Surfers Matmeet 2 - The Movie - Plus Sing Along Lyrics!

Ring Of Fire

Written by June Carter and Merle Kilgore
Recorded by Johnny Cash on 3/25/63

Love Is A Burning Thing
And It Makes A Fiery Ring
Bound By Wild Desire
I Fell Into A Ring Of Fire

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher

And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire

The Taste Of Love Is Sweet
When Hearts Like Ours Meet
I Fell For You Like A Child
Oh, But The Fire Went Wild

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher
And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire

Love Is A Burning Thing
And It Makes A Fiery Ring
Bound By Wild Desire
I Fell Into A Ring Of Fire

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down(down), Down(down), Down(down)
And The Flames Went Higher Higher Higher

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down(down), Down(down), Down(down)
And The Flames Went Higher Higher Higher

And It Burns

Hi PG,

The UK crew certainly generate the stoke and humor of timeless classic surfing fun. I would reckon that you must be ultra-pleased by those fellows' enthusiasm and their sense of mirth!

Another thing that makes me happy lately is how much better the social interactions are on a mat compared to using a shortboard recently. It's really fun being an enigma with my floppy inflatable. When I'm on a surfboard people are generally stating standard opinions and expecting certain ritualistic responses and surfing maneuvers. On a mat the whole orthodoxy evaporates. People are either not interested or are inclined to be more original in their interactions.

And, the act of wave riding itself essentially goes unexamined, because folks are too preoccupied with amazement at merely making the waves. One young guy always comments on just turning being a feat. The rest pretty much ask about ducking and hanging on and are enthusiastic regarding velocity and fun-factor and such.

Kneeboarders show a stronger glimmer of understanding. Then the subject moves on to more esoteric thoughts much more quickly than when boarding. So that's all pretty cool...

Cheers,

Max
