well what a small world it is, hi surfmatters, michael cunningham from NZ here, the guy who took the orca pics, i am a MATTER, in fact surfmatters is one of my guest blogs on my blog 'slopgroveller' PG sent me a 4GF XL last year, i am fully addicted to riding my log, handplane and my super slick XL 4GF, so when i checked my own blog to see that surfmatters had run a post with a link to the photos of orca that i supplied to YAHOO.COM USA today i was thrilled, the orcas surfing at my local break was unreal, big hi to PG and Jamie McClellan, Surfmats rock and so do Orca, cheers mike c http://slopgroveller.blogspot.com/

A couple of summers ago a big orca took off in front of me on walled-up left at Wainui in Gisborne. Quite a thrill that was. I also had an orca pup swim directly under me while I was waiting for a wave. Orcas are beautiful to see, and a rush to get close to, even if they are gentle. I reckon that they are essentially big dolphins with the capability of eating us in a few bites. I like orcas.
