Show of Hands

I'm thinking of trying for a spur of the moment mat meet, at some point this summer, here in L.A. County. I do not name spots in public, so all I can do is say a link to the spot is here.

The place does well on a seriously low tide with a SW swell. I rode the mat there yesterday. And it got me thinking about that place as a good venue for a mat meet. It has its own lot. You have to pay, but it's only $3.00 if you get there before 9 a.m. There are port-a-potties too. What I found most attractive is the fact that you can still get that wave on a mat without having to sit on the main takeoff spot with the surfers.

If we were to have a mat meet here, how many of you would be interested in coming?

DO NOT PUT THE NAME OF THIS SPOT ON YOUR COMMENTS. DO NOTHING THAT POINTS TO US AS PUTTING THE SPOT ON THE INTERNET MAP. WHEN YOU REFER TO IT, JUST SAY "THAT PLACE" OR "THAT SPOT" OR WHATEVER YOU LIKE. NO, I'M NOT KIDDING.

I think we should flash mob the spot just north of there. I'm serious.

Sounds good. I'll try to join (first time mat meeter). That spots good for mats. I like Vyusher's idea as well.

Just for the record, I would be in at said spot to be known only as "Lord
Voldemort". If we really want to flash mob a spot, let's do the Bu.

I'm in. Matters mobilize!

You may be right, J. I've only ridden the mat there once. Do you think that's a better spot? If so, Prana made the same suggestion.

And I wouldn't necessarily care about mentioning that place by name since it is a known spot that is usually crowded anyway.

I'd be interested in riding there or in the vicinity. It's a little over an hour from home, no sweat.

Then let's now agree to keep J's (Vyusher's) suggested venue in mind and keep the one I mentioned as an alternate for another day.

Now, J, it's a matter of figuring out when to have it. You know the spot better than I do, so we should start communicating with each other about this.

I love it! I have had a fantastic mat sesh @ Vyusher's spot and I even think it would be GREAT on a full moon due to certain geographic features. Love Sista's spot too, I've never ridden my mat there but have had the most fun bodyboard waves in SoCal there. Count me in 4 sure!

Just don't go tomorrow I beg you, I will be stuck in a hot black drapery supervising a graduation!

How about we do both?

The spot to the South loves a low tide (9am today).
The spot to the North loves a high tide (4pm today). And the spot in my belly loves a pulled pork sandwich at Neptune's Net (say 1pm-ish?).

TT makes a great point, one I'd also thought about. Well, we have to give others enough notice so that we can get a gang of matters here to rip up whatever spot(s) we choose. We also need some swell.

I guess we will soon be on standby, huh?

Given a days notice I'd make a 2 hr. drive up from the spot I go to the other spot.

The spot is good as long as there is a south night or day. Even with crap wind it's fun. Due to kelp, its a matters haven. Enjoy a low board populace at low tide when the kelp and finless craft rule. Sunday Morning Service doesn't sound bad, come save your soul!!! Isn't there swell Sunday?

I'd be in except for the 2,835 miles from my door to the sand!
I should be in LA for a shoot this fall and I hope to get a mini mat meet in with a few of you. Its been painfully flat here for months...
