Hello Paul,
I thought folks might find this photo helpful in understanding the Voit fin models.
Top row: new flexi models. Lower row: models we’ve had for awhile now.
Left to right: UDT, V-Duck, and Duckfeet.
V-Ducks replaced my long-time favorite summer fin (Toobs Bluntcuts) last Spring… performance is similar and they fit more comfortably.
My favorite “big fin” has been the Duckfeet.
Comparing the old/new:
Recall how stiff the UDT’s heel strap was? The strap on the new UDTs is a lot more pliable. And the flexi UDT is not as fatiguing as it used to be. This is super promising - I’ll be spending more time with these.
The difference between the old and new Duckfeet is interesting. Flexing them by hand shows a considerable difference, but in the water they don’t seem that different… until you want to get moving right NOW. The flexi ones feel like they’re “geared” a bit lower, if that makes sense? I feel they start-up a little quicker, and then don’t cruise quite as well. I’m going to stay with the older Duckfeet, but there are folks who will prefer the flexi ones.
The molds haven’t changed – if Voits fit you in the past, so will the new ones.
Weight is a toss-up between the new and old.
Color choices: Just what you see in the photo.

thanks for the post! I had almost convinced myself that I already had enough fins to last a lifetime. almost
Yes, thanks Steve. As one who was confused, I am now informed!
Can you guys mould some "flex" UDTs in a different colour scheme?
That brown/green camo is not exactly a la mode.
The other fins look rockin' by comparison.
The brown/green color scheme is a nostalgic look-back to the original “pure gum rubber” UDT model. I believe this was called “Delta Tan”. These were made for decades - even after colored rubber was available. The tan ones were always more flexible than the black models.
PG posted a pictorial history of these some time ago on Surfmatters: http://surfmatters.blogspot.com/2011/12/some-historical-udt-swimfin-imagery.html
Cheers for replying to my comment Stevie. I'm aware of the history and the nod to the all-brown pure gum UDTs. I own two pairs of your earlier run of black UDTs and would not use anything else in the water.
I was stoked to hear new UDTs were being moulded but my heart sank when I saw the colour scheme.
Just some honest feedback from a potential customer.
