OB in SF? How about, "I saw SO MANY good waves today. Why couldn't I be in the right place for at least ONE of them?"

Or, "Whoo Hoo! I almost made it to the outside today!"

Say hey if you see me out there, Jonathan. I have a red beard.

I've paddled up to a couple mat riders at OB with a big smile on my face, ready to talk shop, only to have them turn and paddle away stone faced, like they're tired of other mat riders talking to them. This is not how the typical random meeting of dedicated mat riders transpires at OB, but it happened a couple times, which is not okay. I demand smiles form people on mats, especially when I make my usual joke along the lines of, "this beach is only big enough for so many mats, locals only bro."

Well, close people, but what I'm really doing here is research for my upcoming Tip from the Pros, "How to Avoid Endless Souplines by Channeling Psychic Vortices". Still working out the kinks; immediately after this was taken, I ended up in a haunted cabin in the woods. Again. Dammit.

Wow, that's weird Dan! The (very few) times I've spied anyone on a mat ANYWHERE, we've either paddled or walked great distances to say hi.

I've only met two or three other mat surfers at OB in the last 8 years- Rob B. and a young guy named Sam. Both were super nice. Yes, I will look for your red beard, but just being on a mat is enough to pin ya :)
