Hi Paul,
The SW swell was pumping yesterday. I
filmed a few of the boys on their mats and wanted to show you the waves I
matted yesterday on the Lotus SS. The wave of the day is Drain Pipe,
it’s fickle but insane when it breaks. The mats was perfect for the end
section where speed is needed and having a soft mat pays off if you
don’t make it. Enjoy the short video!

Ya shoulda bum rushed that outside take off spot- I detected the scent of beta weakness out there........
Beautiful waves! Jealous. SF is at it's yeastiest right now.
I live in Santa Cruz and surfed several times a week from 1968 until 1974. Don't remember calling any spots by that name so wondering if "drain pipe" same spot as "sewer peak"? Loved that whole PP area but mostly surfed Westside and even more 4-Mile.
WOW! Just looking on wannasurf.com to see if listed and neither to be found. But rym's (Rym's Reef) is on there. When I lived in Santa Cruz that was a no tell on pain of death secret spot! Times do change.
It used to be outside pleasure point, inside pleasure point, the (wild) hook. Now each one of those has a separate name for every section. Its fun to refer to spots by names that actually appear on maps or signs - “surfed the Bruce L. Sharp Overlook today”.
Funny! I rather liked the anonymity and mystery of the old non-names. Sharks Cove, way inside The Hook I liked, few rode there, smaller, more closeouts but sometimes very hollow and good fun on a plywood paipo. 4-Mile really was my main stomping grounds though. Often surfed it with only 1 or 2 or 3 others all day. I imagine that almost never happens now.
Screw tradition. Name the spot after landmarks directly but way inland.
Eastsider 1:"Had a fun surf at C'est Bon this morning."
Eastsider 2:"I blew it! I went out at Gottschalks. Musta been 100 guys out."
Westsider 1:"Z's was off the hook!"
Westsider 2: "Surprised I didn't see you. I was just down at Ark Animal".

I'll see you and raise you one:
I went out at The Food Bin. It was pretty crowded so I paddled over to Staff Of Life Bakery and had one of my best sessions in a long time!
I surfed the Stutz Bearcat Dealership left a while back...
:)
Paul, that is what I'd call DEEP local!
Thats a long paddle from the food bin to staff of life
Bwahaha!
"Thats a long paddle from the food bin to staff of life"
It is but I always carry calories from one spot to the next when paddling around. So I can feed as needed.
