Even with contemporary tube riding, GoPro cameras and dream discoveries (like, say, Skeleton Bay), to my tastes the Echos footage has never been surpassed. The color and textural quality of film, the fish eye lens distortion (the quavering, transparent lip slowly, dramatically enveloping the viewer), and of course the epic soundtrack are *light years* ahead of anything else. The middle photo- what's on screen has the quality of a painting.
And that it was all captured on a finless pillow of air....
