So I am still curious-why did Diggie say "I reckon that is pathetic"?Is it because he recognises the true value of pathos within the video clip of Boyd?To be honest I am more enthused by the spirit of empos,or empathy....or is it just me?
One of the greatest aspects of mat riding is the ethos of being free from implied obligation to do tricks. Most other forms of surfing have been co-opted by the group ethic of showmanship. (Watch me [we surfers] perform!) Whereas on a surfmat there is no onus attached to just riding along unimpeded by outer-directed social necessities. Such obscure freedom harks back to the original aspect of carefree wave riding, when no one knew any better, and simply trimmed and turned for the pure joy of it...
did a rollo yesterday flying down the line into the end bowl.....no one saw it but i was so blown away when i landed and kept going at bombing speed in the wash...

Diggie - I doubt that a board rider could have made much out of that wave either. Maybe a 2 turn combo at the start.
