Just got home a little while ago. I am so sore and sunburned it's not even funny, but feeling very happy about the whole weekend. It was absolutely wonderful to connect with a bunch of other mat riders like that. It was definitely close to my "bucket list" wish. Is anyone else dreaming about next time yet?
Thanks to everyone who was able to come down, you all made it a great event! We got lucky with a great day in the middle of a mediocre summer. Thank you Surfsister for coming and sharing your husbands considerable skills with us. There should be more video available at some point. Dirk & Company were capturing everything in high quality video. JJ was shooting with 16 mm film. So lots more goodies to come. PS Yes Jason one of your legs is shorter than the other! LOL!
Greyman, The count was about 15-20. I lost count being in the water etc. That includes non surfing family members which I include as full participants!
Ive only met the guy a couple of times and I dont believe for one minute Grayman would want any credit for meets. He just does what he loves and thats riding waves...
several days later and im still trying to digest all the info. i highly suggest everyone download dirks hd version dirrect from vimeo. if you use windows do yourself a huge favor and get media player classic. it has great support for .mov apple stuff and has an awsome interface where you can slow mo, zoom and pan and scan on the fly while vid is running. i spent hours zooming up and pan and scanning every shot then watching in slow mo. the dirk video is GOLD
i noiminate Jason Hall for rookie of the year ! guy jumps on a mat day one and gets some sick rides. i remeber my first session i did not catch a wave and it felt like i was wrestling a water bed.

I think I might need to jump on Jet Blue next time. That looked like an amazing time, so stoked on mats.

This post had the most hits in the history of Surfmatters. (The actual numbers are available on a need-to-know basis only...)
Ken/SurfSis and Jason are the champs of Mat Blog Media Marketing!
Oh, and I guess we should include Pranaglider as well, since he put the meet together. :)
