Over the Hump Day!

Back in the early 70's, a small cadre of hard core surfies in Ocean Beach would have a party on July 15th, celebrating the mid-point of the summer surf doldrums.

This was down in San Diego's Ocean Beach...

Not to be confused with the San Fransisco Ocean Beach...

Or the Connecticut Ocean Beach...

Or, for you counter-counter-culture swingers, the Fire Island Ocean Beach...

True, July 15th isn't really the middle of summer. (That would be August 5th.) But for surfers in California who are focused on winter swells and clean conditions, June/July/August are the months of heavy beach crowds, small surf, and the general feeling of hopelessness. And that makes July 15th the halfway-home point!

So party on, Northern Hemisphere surf matters! It's Sunday, there isn't much surf today, and the couch beckons!

I was with you all the way, PG, until the Fire Island reference.

Please, keep your twisted, confused and kinky "preferences" to yourself.

And make sure to watch Anger Management 9:30 Thursdays only on the FX Channel.
